Final day of 9/11 pretrial hearings for this week, FEB 14, 2013

Today was the final day for this week's hearings in the 9/11 case. All five detainees were in court. Today's focus was on searches of their mail, and testimony via video of convening authority Ret. Adm. Bruce Macdonald. Hearings are scheduled to resume April 22.

Feb. 13, 2013 9/11 pretrial hearing Guantanamo sketches

I spent the day working from monitors so I could get a different perspective. The detainees did not attend, so I focused on the witnesses and prosecution today. Tomorrow is the final day for this week's hearings.

February 12, 2013 9/11 pretrial hearings in Guantanamo

It was fairly busy in court today, starting with testimony from a court audio specialist and then moving to two military personnel that dealt with detainee's personal mail. I also did a few sketches of KSM with his defense and a full court view. Tomorrow I plan to focus on the prosecution.

February 11, 2013 9/11 hearings resume

Back in Guantanamo sketching at the 9/11 pretrial hearings. At issue this morning, among several things, were concerns about privacy at the tables during conversations between defense and the accused. The day was truncated so defense could use the afternoon to interview witnesses.

At the podium, KSM's lawyer David Nevin is requesting the afternoon off for those witness interviews.
I had wanted to show how the accused entered the court, and was able to capture that, along with an after-court conference between the 5 and their legal team.

We reconvene tomorrow with those witnesses and much-anticipated testimony by officer who leveraged charges against the five accused.
